FAQ

Everything riders actually ask us. If your question is not here, just email support@slideplate.ch - it comes straight to Elyes.

Fitment

Will it fit my bike?

If your model is listed in the shop, yes. Every model-specific SlidePlate is measured and made for that exact bike and year range, so there is no universal-bracket guesswork. Pick your model and year at checkout.

Do I have to drill?

For model-specific editions, no. The plate bolts onto your bike's original license plate mounting points, usually two screws. You need tools, but you do not need to modify the bike.

The Universal edition is different: the baseplate ships without pre-drilled top holes so you can position it yourself, which means drilling two holes through your rear plastics. That is the trade-off for fitting anything.

My bike is not in the shop

Send us the measurements and we will look at it. Head to Custom Fitment. New models get added based on what people actually ask for, so it is worth asking.

What is the difference between BASE and FLEX?

BASE is a fixed 30 degree angle. No moving parts, nothing to wear out, set it and forget it.

FLEX folds and adjusts. Tuck the plate in when you want the tail clean, fold it back out when you need it. More function, slightly more money.

Both slide out, so the plate comes off in seconds for photos or cleaning.

Can I start with BASE and upgrade to FLEX later?

Yes, and this is the point of the system. The bracket stays on the bike. You buy the FLEX module on its own and bolt it on - no new baseplate, no second purchase of the whole thing.

The product

What is it made of? Will it survive winter?

ASA+, not standard PLA or PETG. It is chosen for UV resistance and heat tolerance, which is why it does not go brittle and chalky in the sun or soften near the exhaust. Printed in small batches in Switzerland.

Is it road legal?

It is designed around Swiss plate regulations, including the 30 degree angle. Rules differ from country to country, and how you mount and angle it is ultimately your responsibility - if you ride outside Switzerland, check your local regulations before you fit it.

Does it rattle?

It should not. If yours does, that is a defect and we want to hear about it - email returns@slideplate.ch.

Orders and shipping

When does my order ship?

Everything is made to order in small batches. We dispatch once a week, every Saturday. Order by Thursday 17:00 and it goes out that Saturday. After a drop things can run longer - we will tell you if they do.

How long does delivery take?

Switzerland: 2-3 business days after dispatch, A-Post with tracking.

Everywhere else: it depends on the country and includes customs clearance, which we do not control. You get a tracking number the moment it ships.

Where do you ship?

Switzerland, plus Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. The live list is whatever appears at checkout.

Customs and import fees

Do I have to pay customs?

If you are outside Switzerland, yes. We ship from Switzerland, which is not in the EU customs union, so every parcel is an import.

Your carrier charges import VAT plus a handling fee on delivery, typically 10-25 EUR or GBP depending on your country and carrier. It is not included in what you pay us, and we cannot pre-pay it or make it go away. Budget for it before you order.

Why can't you just declare it cheaper?

Because that is customs fraud. We are legally required to declare the true value of the goods, and we will not mark a parcel as a gift or write a lower number to shrink your fee. It risks your parcel and our shop, and we are not doing it. Please do not ask.

What happens if I do not pay the customs fee?

The carrier sends the parcel back to us. This is the single most common thing that goes wrong with orders outside Switzerland, and it is avoidable - the notice arrives by app, SMS, email or a card in your letterbox, and it is easy to mistake for spam.

If a parcel does come back, the postage we already paid is gone, so shipping is not refunded. You get two options: we reship and you cover the new postage, or we refund the product price minus the original postage. If your order had free shipping, no postage was charged to you and you get the full amount back.

I want it reshipped. Do I pay customs a second time?

Yes. Customs is calculated on the declared value of the plate, not on the postage you are paying us, so the second charge lands at roughly the same amount as the first. Worth knowing before you decide.

Problems and returns

It arrived damaged or does not fit

Email returns@slideplate.ch as soon as you open the parcel. Obvious defects should reach us within 2 business days of delivery. Send photos. We repair, replace or refund, and we cover return shipping on a warranty claim. Full accountability on defects - that is the deal.

Can I return it because I changed my mind?

Under Swiss law there is no automatic right of return for online orders, so we do not take back correctly delivered, undamaged parts just because someone changed their mind. Ask us anything before you buy instead - we would rather answer ten questions than ship the wrong thing.

If you are a consumer in the EU or the UK, any withdrawal rights you have under your own country's law still apply. See our Refund Policy.
